За сколько можно доехать из Южной Кореи в Англию? Довольно быстро, если взять авиабилет, несколько дней или пару недель на поездах и паромах. А если проехать весь этот путь на велосипеде, то получится взаправду эпическое, одиночное самостоятельное путешествие. Именно такое приключение ожидает Пола Ломбарда, простого английского парня, который проработал последние пять лет в Сеуле.
Пол написал нам через каучсёрфинг, что будет в Баодине, буквально за день до приезда и остановится всего на одну ночь, мы были рады приютить гостя, который решил превратить дорогу домой в испытание своих сил. Фото на обложке: наш друг Джерри и путешественник Пол Ломбард.
Julia: Пол, расскажи про свой маршрут?
P.L.: Я начал свой путь из Сеула и собираюсь добраться до родного Глостершира, через Китай, Казахстан, Киргизию, Узбекистан, Туркменистан, Иран, Ирак и Турцию. Я хотел поехать через Россию, но туда вроде визу сложно сделать, приглашение надо, to? В Иран вроде тоже будет сложно получить, у них выборы будут скоро, а они не любят, когда иностранцы к ним накануне выборов приезжают.
Al: А как, вообще, ты решил отправиться в такое путешествие на велосипеде?
P.L.: Я проработал последние пять лет в Корее, учителем английского, пора и домой съездить. Я всегда хотел домой по земле добраться и тут появилась возможность. And more, я не велосипедист, не фанат велопоездок и никогда далеко не ездил, поэтому это для меня будет таким испытанием и так можно хорошо узнать все эти страны. Максимум, я в Корее ездил на велосипеде из Сеула до Пусана, это совсем недалеко и это нельзя считать большой подготовкой, но я надеюсь, что доеду.
Julia: А ты весь маршрут хочешь на велосипеде проделать? Не будет желания где-нибудь закинуть велосипед в поезд, чтобы побыстрее доехать?
P.L.: Уже не получилось, визу в Северную Корею было не получить, поэтому я проехал на пароме из Южной Кореи прямо в порт Тяньцзиня, теперь дальше на велосипеде. В Туркменистане могут ещё быть сложности, потому что визу там на 7 дней всего дают, могу не успеть всю страну проехать и следующую визу сделать в Иран, тогда меня депортируют и путешествие закончится. Мои друзья говорили мне, что я втихаря долечу до дома, а потом буду дальше из дома статусы обновлять, но я думаю до этого не дойдёт 🙂 А ещё я решил, что проеду этот маршрут не только для себя, но и для благотворительных целей, поэтому если я так сделаю, то буду просто говнюком и не прощу себе этого.
Al: А что за благотворительность?
P.L.: Когда я преподавал английский в Судане, я видел как работает MAG (общественная организация), they are engaged in mine clearance and truly help local avoid a large number of deaths. Поэтому я решил поддержать их.
Al: Сколько ты в China можешь провести и как ты считаешь, сколько по времени у тебя займёт вся дорога? Легко визу дали?
P.L.: Думаю до осени получится проехать весь маршрут. У меня сейчас китайская туристическая виза на 3 месяца и казахстанская виза есть. Отправлял свой паспорт в Лондон, to, довольно легко.
Al: А зачем такие сложности с пересылкой паспорта?
P.L.: В Корее можно было получить визу в Китай, но только на 1 Month, поэтому пришлось его отправлять в Великобританию.
Julia: А чем ты занимался в Великобритании, до того как поехал в Корею работать?
P.L.: Я отучился в вузе, жил в Лондоне, подрабатывал на всяких мелких подработках, особо ничем не занимался. Потом получил CELTA (сертификат преподавателя английского для взрослых), нашёл работу в Южной Корее.
Julia: А много можно зарабатывать учителем английского в Корее?
P.L.: Всё зависит от обстоятельств, можно легко зарабатывать 14K фунтов в год, но этого вполне хватает для комфортной жизни и можно ещё откладывать. В Лондоне минимум 16К фунтов надо зарабатывать, но это только концы с концами сводить, то есть вообще ничего не сделаешь. В Сеуле я откладывал последние несколько месяцев, когда готовился к своему путешествию.
Al: Дорого вообще получается к такому путешествию подготовиться? Ты общался с опытными велосипедистами, при подготовке к поездке?
P.L.: Этот велосипед я купил за 500 dollars. Считаю, что это совсем недорого получилось. Но со всякими обвесами, мешками и оборудованием, которое я купил получается наверно вся тысяча. Yes, общался, мне очень помогли с выбором велосипеда.
Al: У тебя ведь есть навигатор, какое ещё оборудование? Где ты собираешься останавливаться?
P.L.: Yes, у меня руль очень удобный, можно менять положение рук, чтобы разные мышцы работали, есть GPS, фонарики, зеркало заднего вида меня уже спасло пару раз, когда грузовики сзади вылетали и сигналя, неслись рядом на полной скорости. Есть читалка, чтобы много книг не тащить с собой и маленький лэптоп, чтобы в блог постить. Фотки я на iphone делаю, может камеру зеркальную по дороге куплю, пока так. В моих мешках упакованы ещё палатка и спальник, так что можно и на природе ночевать, но пока я южнее не проехал, холодно. В Тяньцзине и Баджоу я останавливался в отелях. Коучсёрферов я встречал в Сеуле, но никогда не останавливался в гостях и не принимал никого. Когда не мог вас тут в Баодине найти и заблудился, тоже хотел в отеле каком-нибудь остановиться, но меня, как иностранца, не пустили, первый раз такая фигня случилась. Я про это слышал раньше, но не сталкивался сам.
Julia: А ты in Chinese говоришь?
P.L.: No.
Julia: А как ты понял, что тебя не пустили, потому что ты иностранец?
P.L.: Well, жестами объяснялся с ними.
Al: Где ты собираешься останавливаться подольше?
P.L.: В западной части Китая будет очень интересно, где живут народности всякие – уйгуры, eg; In “станах” (Казахстан, Узбекистан, Туркменистан) точно постараюсь подольше, может на неделю в нескольких городах: Сиань, Урумчи, Бишкек… Общение с людьми, с которыми встречаешься в пути, во всех деревнях и городках, это наверно самая интересная часть.
Al: То что ты делаешь, по-настоящему круто! У тебя всё получится.
P.L.: Мне все друзья так говорят и люди, которых я встречаю, думаю так оно и есть, но пока идёт всего пятый день моего путешествия, я пока наверно ещё не осознал, что я задумал. Но знаете, все такой поддержкой меня вдохновляют и я надеюсь, что в самые сложные дни, психологически смогу перебороть себя и выйти на дорогу, это самое сложное…
